The General Organization for the Conservation of Coral Reefs and Turtles in the Red Sea, known as 'SHAMS', is a Saudi government conservation organization, founded in 1443 AH.

Our mandate is to protect, manage, and sustain the vibrant coral reefs, and the diverse marine turtle populations and their nesting sites along the Red Sea. By drawing on both local wisdom and global expertise, we employ innovative strategies to monitor, rehabilitate, and restore these precious natural habitats.

CEO Message

We are dedicated to preserving coral reefs and sea turtles and putting the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on the global map for excellence in these areas. Our goal is to plan and implement projects using the best international practices, ensuring the highest standards are met. We have conducted studies to assess the current state of coral reefs and turtles in the Red Sea and have identified key projects to address urgent needs. Our focus is on innovative solutions and technologies for monitoring, inspecting, and rehabilitating coral reefs and sea turtles. Through our programs, we aim to preserve and develop these precious ecosystems in the Red Sea and beyond. Join us as we restore and expand turtle breeding sites and rehabilitate damaged coral reef environments to their natural state.
